About Me

Sometimes, we go through experiences and forget to feel anything right through it. Our default attitude throughout the entire ordeal is to be in "survival mode". And once the experience is over, we suddenly reflect on how we actually felt throughout it all. And that's when the emotions kick in... and we're left in a mess.

To help me get through this period, I started to write about my experience. It's a way for me to vent my frustrations, make sense of things and hopefully inspire others, in sha Allah.

So what am I venting about? A few years ago, I was befriended by a spy and was subsequently arrested (at the age of 20) for possessing illegal magazines. My sole crime was reading some of those magazines as they'd fallen under the draconian terrorism laws of this country. I was then on bail for one and a half years and subsequently served 9 months in Holloway prison- more commonly known as the overcrowded, understaffed, Victorian jail. Following that, I did another 9 months on licence where I was subjected to over 20 licence conditions. After that period, I went through a period of trying to secure employment. And in the midst of it all, I managed to complete my degree, alhamdulillah.

May Allah guide me and you.
